On its unique mission to host two major Musee d’Orsay exhibitions in one year, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco is ending the first one on Labor Day in preparation for the second show, opening in about three weeks thereafter. Birth of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musee d’Orsay, is still on display at the de Young Museum, with extended hours for the final weeks. The almost 100 paintings-strong show, dedicated to the pivotal artistic movement, displays multiple works by Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Paul Cezanne, Gustave Courbet, Pierre-August Renoir, Edgar Degas, Edouard Manet, and other iconic figures of Impressionism.
