Bay Are ballet studious in full attendance and balletomanes of all ages filled out movie theatres in San Francisco, Daly City, Pleasant Hill, Redwood City, San Bruno, Dublin, and San Jose for the first ever cinema ballet in 3D simultaneously shown in 163 venues nationwide a week ago.
The film, Giselle in 3D, recorded at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, was filmed by Can Communicate and presented by NCM Fathom and More2Screen.
The classic Giselle, shown onstage for more than a century, was shot up close and brought to the multiple audiences in the new kind of contemporary encounter featuring Russian ballet stars Natalia Osipova and Leonid Sarafanov. The cameras, allowing every viewer to watch literally from the edge of the stage in closest proximity to the dancers, followed their every graceful move and every dramatic facial expression, delivering an unforgettable cinematic and theatrical experience.
The revolutionary 3-D ballet project is one in a series of multi-screen shows including operas, concerts, and sporting events. More information at: www.fathomevents.com, www.more2screen.com, www.cancommunicate.com and www.mariinsky.ru.
