The Great InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, the largest luxury hotel chain in the world, initiated a simultaneous “Lunch is Never Pointless” event in 20 of its properties across North America earlier this month. The special luncheon introduced a new Meetings Multiplier system of gaining reward points for booking meetings in different cities, and announced a five million priority club rewards points giveaway.
InterContinental San Francisco, in the bustling city center – a soaring glass building with 43 000 sq. ft of meeting space, 21 meeting rooms, two ballrooms, three outdoor terraces, banquet facilities, and a recent LEED EBOM Gold certification – became a scene for one of these luncheons, a rewarding experience on its own.
The guests were treated to champagne and Priority Punch in the sunlit hotel lobby, and then the Regional General Manager Peter Koehler introduced a series of new exciting hotel stay developments, among them America’s Cup packages coming next year.
Executive Chef Christophe Depuichaffray created an array of special treats that started with locally harvested seasonal ingredients of the San Francisco Bay Area, like San Juan Bautista heirloom tomato salad with Di Stefano burrata and Niman Ranch beef medallions with King Trumpet mushrooms, scallops, vegetables, and Mission Fig gastrique.
A four course dessert included raspberry gazpacho, green tea crème brulee, strawberry tartlets, and chocolate pralines.
